Mediation is an informal process of resolving disputes with the assistance of a mediator. Those who act as mediators must be dedicated to the principle that all disputants hae a right to negotiate an attempt to determine the outcomes of their own conflicts.

A third-party neutral is a person, such as a mediator, arbitrator, or evaluator who assists the parties, represented are unrepresented, in the resolution of a dispute or in the arrangement of a transaction.
